Lifejacket Maintenance on the NSW Coast

Lifejackets save lives, and that’s why Sussex Marine do what we do. While it is essential (and a legal requirement) that lifejackets are carried on recreational vessels, an inflatable lifejacket will only work if it is properly maintained. If you are the skipper of a vessel, it is not only your responsibility to provide lifejackets for yourself and all passengers, but to make sure all lifejackets are regularly inspected and serviced.

At Sussex Marine, we understand our customers want both convenience and value for money. That’s why we have lifejacket servicing kiosks along the NSW South Coast. You can drop off and pick up your lifejacket at a location near you and have it expertly serviced at a competitive price. Just some of the towns where you will find one of our kiosks include Narooma, Nowra, Wollongong, Bermagui, and Eden. View the full list here, or please contact us with any questions.

Inflatable Lifejacket Servicing

Modern inflatable lifejackets are far less bulky than the older style solid foam types and there are many styles to suit a variety of sports and activities. Whether you have a manual or an auto-inflating lifejacket, it should be regularly inspected and serviced in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. If the servicing interval has not been specified by the manufacturer, your lifejacket must be serviced every 12 months. There is no doubt that lifejackets are the most important piece of boating safety equipment, so remember to wear them, inspect them and service them. More information about lifejackets in NSW and servicing requirements can be found here.
